We have faced similar situations with jockeys and our very popular EAP ( Equine Assisted Therapy) programme. Russell’s work is not about developing their prowess as golfers, though this may well result.

The majority of sportspeople through Sporting Chanc are from different disciplines, sailing, rowing, martial arts, rugby, cricket and show jumping or horse racing.Plus many more. In these instances a golf club is often an alien implement to their sport.

Frequently, with Russell’s Golf Emotional Therapy classes it is the first time they have held a club, and every man and woman who has been through his programme has been amazed at their individual progression throughout the four week, two hourly session workshop.

They might not all end up hitting hole in one’s but they all end up believing with positive thought and attitude there is a chance, and often the belief is that it may be a good chance.

Russell has an enviable ability to combine skill, knowledge and humour in transferring what is learned in the educational arena to real life, on life’s terms. I have approached Russell to support me in the development of a programme requested by two of the leading Sports science Universities in the country in exactly this work.

Being as honest as I am, I must add that Tiger was otherwise engaged! Otherwise who would have been invited to support both Russell and myself but it does appear his support is needed elsewhere.

Thomson Tour Pro-Am the Bedford Club: I have worked hard this year and at last it paid off at the Bedford Club. I have had a few top five finishes on the Thomson Tour and the closest I have come to winning is second. There is nothing that comes close to the feeling of winning and now I know deep down that I have the taste as a professional.

SPGU Christmas Faye: At different times of the year I get the opportunity to play golf with my clients. One of my clients and good friends Deidre Wickins invited me to play in the SPGU foursome ’s event at Royal Eastbourne Golf Club, which we won with 45 points.

This is the second event I have won with Deidre, the other being a Pro-Am in Portugal (San Lorenzo) in November. It’s always nice to play with my clients and to see all the hard work they have put in pays off.
